  3. Email allows you to build trust
  4. Email has higher sales conversion than social media
  5. It's easy to miss social media posts but email stays in the inbox

Getting started

  1. You need an email service provider like MailChimp or AWeber
  2. Allow people to sign up via Facebook (using the call to action) and on your website. We love the SumoMe plugin for wordpress
  3. You can use Zapier to link your other programs, like Quickbooks, Paypal, or your online shopping cart to your email service provider
  4. Lead magnet providing value in exchange for someone giving you their email address. This can be a short PDF, a video series, checklist, or worksheet. Make sure that the lead magnet is in line with your product or service. Don't use raffles to get people on your email list.

Now what?

Deliver awesome content to your subscribers. Treat them like friends. Don't sell constantly. You wouldn't walk into a networking event and immediately sell to the attendees. You would build relationships. Do the same thing with your email list.

Be consistent. Figure out a schedule that works for you and stick with it. It could be monthly, biweekly, or weekly. Anything more than that and you will turn off your email followers unless they are expecting daily inspiration. If you tell them they are signing up for daily emails, you need to keep up with that schedule. Using an autoresponder or scheduling emails well ahead of time can help.
